Dr. Gardner's
Philosophy of Counseling
Doc Gardner's counseling philosophy is founded upon a strong
Judeo-Christian ethic; he believes that everybody experiences hurt, disappointment, and struggle at some
point in their life. Seeking help from a qualified, wise counselor is a practice that is not only beneficial,
but is well grounded for people of faith. We, as human beings, cannot always choose what happens to us.
However, we can choose how we will ultimately react to what happens to us. Counseling is a process of
understanding how and why we think what we do. It is about gaining insight into the impact of events and
relationships on our lives, and then realizing that we can make choices, both in what we think and what we
do, to greatly improve our lives. It's about understanding that we, as men and women created in the image of
God, have immeasureable worth and the power of personal choice.
Tim operates from a cognitive-behavioral-faith-based model of
counseling and human development and has had the privilege of working with and helping people from a
multiplicity of backgrounds, faiths, and experiences. Tim is a man of character, integrity, and extreme
conviction who believes in doing the right thing because it is the right thing to do. Tim believes that Wisdom
is knowing the right to do... But Integrity is doing it. He is also a man who understands struggle and
failure in marriage and life and is able to offer uncompromising compassion for those who seek his help. He
practices as Pastoral Counselor.
